Matcha Bowl (Chawan) - Oribe Nagashi

This chawan (matcha bowl) is handcrafted in the tradition of Mino-yaki (美濃焼). Mino ware originates from the Mino region of present-day Gifu Prefecture, with a history that dates back over 1,300 years. It flourished during the Momoyama period, when distinctive styles like Shino and Oribe emerged alongside the rise of tea culture. In later periods, including the Meiji era, production expanded and adapted to modern methods. Today, Mino ware accounts for roughly half of all ceramic tableware produced in Japan, reflecting its lasting influence and central role in the country’s ceramics industry.
