How to Prepare Matcha
Usucha (Thin Tea)
For a traditional bowl of matcha:
- Matcha: 1.5–2g
- Water: 60–70ml
- Water Temperature: 75–80°C / 167–176°F
Sift the matcha into a warmed matcha bowl. Add the hot water and whisk briskly with a bamboo whisk until a fine layer of froth forms.
For a true tasting experience, prepare all three matchas using the same amount of powder, water, and temperature. This makes it easier to compare the unique characteristics of each brand.
Matcha Latte
For a matcha latte, whisk approximately 2–3g of matcha with 60–80ml of warm water until smooth and frothy. Add your preferred milk or plant-based milk and enjoy hot or iced.
