    How to Prepare Koicha (Thick Matcha Style):

    1. Sift 3–4 grams (about 1.5 to 2 teaspoons) of matcha into a matcha bowl (chawan).

    2. Heat water to around 75°C (170°F).

    3. Add 30–40 ml (1–1.5 oz) of hot water.

    4. Gently knead and mix the matcha with a bamboo whisk (chasen) using slow, circular motions until smooth and thick—koicha should not be frothy.

    5. Sip slowly and savor the depth of flavor.

    Optional Usucha Preparation:

    To enjoy Shōkaku as thin matcha, use 1–2 grams of powder and 60–70 ml of hot water. Whisk briskly to create a creamy froth.
