    Uji Matcha from Kyoto, Japan

Yomo no Kaori (四方の薫) is an elevated Japanese matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen, a historic tea producer based in Uji, Kyoto. Positioned as an intermediate grade, this tea is crafted through traditional gogumi (master blending) to offer a distinct step up in aromatic complexity and body from entry-level matchas.

With its creamy texture and highly approachable umami, Yomo no Kaori serves as a remarkably balanced, everyday usucha (thin tea) that also pairs beautifully with milk.

    Flavor Profile

Yomo no Kaori features a vibrant emerald color and a notably creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel. The flavor is defined by a mild, natural sweetness and a smooth, accessible umami foundation. It carries a more expressive, refined aroma than entry-level grades, finishing cleanly with virtually zero sharp bitterness.

    Best For

Yomo no Kaori is particularly suited to:

    • Usucha (thin tea)
    • Elevated daily matcha rituals
    • Hot or iced matcha
    • Premium matcha lattes

Its creamy body and pleasant mildness make it highly satisfying to drink straight, while its refined aroma provides an excellent foundation for high-end milk-based drinks.

How to Prepare Yomo no Kaori

    Usucha (Thin Tea)

    You will need:

    • 1.5–2g matcha
    • 60–70ml water
    • Water at 75–80°C / 167–176°F
    • Bamboo whisk (chasen)
    • Matcha bowl (chawan)
    • Sifter

    Steps:

    1. Sift the matcha into a warmed chawan.
    2. Add the hot water.
    3. Whisk briskly in a W or M motion until a fine layer of froth forms.
    4. Enjoy immediately.
