Senchasou Matcha

Founded in 1939 in Matsue, a city renowned for its rich tea heritage, Sencha-Sou has been beloved by tea connoisseurs for over 80 years. The region’s deep appreciation for tea culture traces back to Lord Matsudaira Fumai, a famed feudal tea master who cultivated and preserved the spirit of the Japanese tea ceremony in Matsue—a legacy that Sencha-Sou continues to honor.

Among its most distinctive offerings is matcha once cherished by a feudal lord—a rarity even within Japan. Sencha-Sou selects only the finest tea leaves from contract farmers across the country. Through careful sourcing and expert blending, it creates truly one-of-a-kind teas that reflect the unique character of each harvest.

The matcha used by Sencha-Sou is made exclusively from the highest-grade tencha grown in Uji, Kyoto, a region renowned for its exceptional matcha. Only tencha that meets Uji’s strict quality standards is selected. The leaves are then stone-ground in-house using traditional mills, allowing Sencha-Sou to deliver freshly milled matcha that retains its vibrant color, rich aroma, and deep umami flavor.

Today, Sencha-Sou’s teas are cherished not only in Japan, but around the world—bringing centuries of tea tradition to modern tea lovers everywhere.
