For those new to our matcha, Horai is an excellent starting point. This smooth, light-hearted tea belongs to the rich category, offering a delightful balance of sweetness, umami, and a touch of bitterness.

Preparation Instructions

1. Sift the Matcha

   • Measure 2 g (0.07 oz) of matcha (1.5 heaping tea ladles or 1 level teaspoon).
   • Sift the matcha into your tea bowl using a fine tea strainer for a smoother texture.

2. Add Hot Water

   • Heat 60 mL (2 oz) of water to 80°C (176°F).
   • To achieve the ideal temperature, pour boiling water into a teacup and let it cool slightly before pouring it into the tea bowl.

3. Whisk

   • Whisk vigorously for 15 seconds in an "M" motion using a chasen (bamboo tea whisk) until a creamy foam forms on top.
