How to Prepare Usucha (Thin Matcha):

Matcha bowl (chawan)

Bamboo whisk (chasen)

Bamboo scoop (chashaku) or teaspoon

Sifter (optional but recommended)

Ingredients:

1–2 scoops of matcha (about 1 to 2 grams)

60–70 ml (2–2.5 oz) of hot water (around 75–80°C or 170–175°F)

Instructions:

Sift the matcha powder into your tea bowl to remove clumps.

Whisk briskly in an "M" or "W" motion using the chasen until a fine layer of froth forms on the surface.
