This chawan (matcha bowl) is handcrafted in the tradition of Mino-yaki (美濃焼). Mino porcelain traces its origins back more than 1,300 years to the Heian period, when advanced pottery techniques arrived from the Korean Peninsula and took root in central Japan. Its craftsmanship evolved significantly during the Meiji era, as local artisans incorporated modern porcelain-making methods that helped fuel Japan’s growing industrial production. Today, Mino ware accounts for roughly half of all ceramic tableware produced in Japan—a testament to its enduring influence, technical refinement, and central role in the nation’s ceramics industry
Diameter: 12 cm
