Uji Matcha from Kyoto, Japan
Ogurayama (小倉山) is a celebrated Japanese matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen, a historic tea producer based in Uji, Kyoto. Crafted through traditional gogumi (master blending), this matcha balances rich umami, delicate floral sweetness, and a soft, velvety texture with a clean, refreshing finish.
Its well-rounded profile makes Ogurayama one of Yamamasa Koyamaen’s most popular and versatile teas, performing beautifully as a daily usucha (thin tea) or as a vibrant base for iced matcha and elevated lattes.
Flavor Profile
Ogurayama matcha features a bright, vibrant emerald color and a harmonious profile centered around smooth umami and natural leaf sweetness. A subtle, well-integrated touch of astringency gives it structural balance, providing crisp clarity on the palate without any sharp bitterness.
Traditional Heritage Blend (Gogumi)
Ogurayama is crafted using traditional gogumi, the historic Uji method of master blending.
Yamamasa Koyamaen’s tea appraisers select high-grade, first-flush spring leaves from shaded tea gardens across the Uji region. By combining complementary harvest lots, they ensure Ogurayama retains its signature aroma, vibrant color, and consistent flavor year after year.
The exact cultivars and proportions are kept as a strictly guarded proprietary house blend.
