A Mild and Creamy Matcha Delight
This matcha offers an exceptionally pleasant and mild profile with a touch of natural sweetness and a creamy texture. It is notably sweeter and more full-bodied than Samidori, delivering a rich, creamy mouthfeel that lingers lightly on the palate. For the best flavor, use water heated to 80-85°C, as lower temperatures can introduce astringent notes.
Preparation Guide
As Usucha (Thin Tea)
- Measure Matcha: Add 2 g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon, or 2 chashaku scoops) of matcha powder to a tea bowl.
- Add Water: Pour 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) of water heated to 80°C (176°F) over the matcha powder.
- Whisk: Use a chasen (tea whisk) to whisk briskly until a smooth, foamy layer forms.
As Koicha (Thick Tea)
- Measure Matcha: Add 4 g (0.8 US tsp, 2 teaspoons, or 4 chashaku scoops) of matcha powder to a tea bowl.
- Add Water: Pour 30 ml (1 fl oz) of water heated to 80°C (176°F) over the matcha powder.
- Knead: Gently knead with a chasen until the mixture is completely smooth and lump-free.
Tips for the Best Matcha Experience
- Pre-Warm the Bowl: Warm the tea bowl with hot water before use, then dry it thoroughly. This step ensures the tea stays at the ideal temperature and enhances its aroma. (Optional)
- Sift the Matcha: Sift the matcha powder through a fine strainer before preparation to prevent clumps. (Highly recommended)
- Drink Immediately: Consume the matcha promptly after preparation, as it becomes increasingly bitter as it cools. (Recommended)
- Maintain Freshness: Use the tea within one month of opening for the best flavor and quality. (Strongly recommended)
Enjoy the mild sweetness and creamy richness of this matcha, crafted for a soothing and satisfying tea experience.
