How to Prepare Usucha (Thin Matcha):
- Tools you'll need:
- Matcha bowl (chawan)
- Bamboo whisk (chasen)
- Bamboo scoop (chashaku) or teaspoon
- Sifter (optional but recommended)
- Ingredients:
- 1–2 scoops of matcha (about 1 to 2 grams)
- 60–70 ml (2–2.5 oz) of hot water (around 75–80°C or 170–175°F)
- Instructions:
- Sift the matcha powder into your tea bowl to remove clumps.
- Add hot water.
- Whisk briskly in an "M" or "W" motion using the chasen until a fine layer of froth forms on the surface.
- Enjoy immediately!
