Uji Matcha from Kyoto, Japan
Matsukaze (松風) is an entry-level ceremonial matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen, a historic tea producer based in Uji, Kyoto. Positioned as an accessible daily option in their traditional lineup, this tea is crafted through gogumi (master blending) to deliver a crisp, light-bodied bowl with a clean, refreshing character.
Its brisk profile and mild structure make Matsukaze an easy choice for everyday usucha (thin tea), iced matcha, or as a vibrant base for matcha lattes.
Flavor Profile
Matsukaze features a bright emerald color and a light, brisk mouthfeel. On the palate, it delivers classic fresh tea leaf notes with a gentle, refreshing astringency that gives the cup clean definition. It finishes crisp and bright, allowing it to hold up well when mixed with milk or enjoyed cold.
Traditional Heritage Blend (Gogumi)
Matsukaze is crafted using gogumi, the traditional practice of master blending. Yamamasa Koyamaen selects first-flush spring tencha and stone-mills the leaf at their facility in Uji, Kyoto, maintaining a consistent flavor, aroma, and color across harvests.
